In the Spirit of Taize, a new American recording of the music of Taize, was recorded live at Ascension Church in Oak Park, Illinois under the direction of David Anderson.
Since October of 1992, on the first Friday of each month, Ascension Church has welcomed Christians from many traditions to pray in the spirit of the Taize Community. Praying in word, song, and silence, the gathering has grown from an initial group of 30 people to over 800 people each month, including both local Chicagoans as well as visitors from around the world. The purpose of this ecumenical gathering is to pray for peace and reconciliation throughout the world. The Taize Community, which celebrated its fifty years in 1990, is a world renowned for its message of trust, peace, and reconciliation. Taize songs, with their distinctive style, have become popular as a source of meditation and praise even far beyond the ever growing circle of those who know Taize in France personally. One of the brothers responsible for the music of Taize helped with the choice of this collection of 20 songs and took part in the recording session in Bristol. The songs were selected from among the most recent well-known songs which make up the booklet Songs and Prayers from Taize.

Choral Masterworks from a Russian Cathedral
Features mainly 20th century and contemporary composers. There are several selections from "Liturgy of Peace" by Archbishop lonafan (Yeletskyh) of Kiev in which the eastern "Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom" is sung to the melodies of Western Gregorian chants, creating a musical synthesis of the two traditions.
All the pieces and performances are infused with a solemn and deeply devotional quality. The singing is spacious and warm, creating an atmosphere of holiness and benediction.
