Welcome Home by Steve Angrisano

Steve Angrisano is one of the best contemporary songwriters around, and his fourth album only adds to the evidence. These 11 songs will become staples for contemporary liturgies, prayer services, youth group events - and young people with headphones -everywhere.

Steve's superbly crafted songs welcome us to discover God's kingdom in our everyday lives. "Even in the rush and crush, the thunder of this world," he sings in "Follow Me," the exhilarating opening track, "there's a gentle whisper in my heart saying, 'I am your God, there is no other. Follow me!'" Offering a delectable array of guitar-, mandolin- and Hammond organ-spiced praise and worship tracks, Welcome Home helps us hear that gentle whisper and find our way back to God's embrace.

Change Me by Tom Booth

This beautifully packaged disc features 13 original songs that alternate exhilarating rock and soulful blues with alt-country --marked by slide guitar --and reflective ballads.

It starts with a steady, electric bass and drums, then weaves a haunting, distorted guitar with a fierce rap about the mysteries of our faith. Then come samples of someone speaking slowly, with a heavy accent: "You young people, ask yourselves: Do I believe these words of Jesus in the Gospel?" Suddenly, as you tap your foot to the intoxicating rhythm, you realize it's the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II. Only Tom Booth could pull this off.

This is only the beginning of "Taste of Heaven," the Unity-Award-winning rock epic that anchors Tom's latest album. more...

Ways of the Wise by Tony Melendez

It was an unforgettable moment when, on September 15, 1987, he played his guitar for Pope John Paul II in Los Angeles. Born without arms, he performed a touching song entitled "Never Be The Same." And when the Pope approached him from the stage to kiss him in appreciation, it seemed to reflect the sentiments of the entire country.

Never Be the Same was an appropriate song, for those few moments changed then 25 year-old Tony Melendez' life and brought his unrestrained abilities as a guitarist into national attention. It seems to be a fitting place for a man who has spent his life putting personal confidence above his handicap.

A "thalidomide baby", Tony was born without arms because his mother was prescribed this drug during pregnancy. more...

Captured by Tom Booth

A more driving, organic, intimate collection For his new album, Tom Booth added a sweet Martin acoustic to his electric guitar and amps. A chamber orchestra squeezed in beside his rock band.

The result: a more driving, organic, intimate collection. Like candles in a small chapel, the 12 songs on "Captured" illuminate the face of the Lord, guiding listeners to a place of deep prayer and praise.

Lyrics drawn from Scripture, saints and mystics Drawing from Scripture, saints and mystics -Thomas Merton, Charles de Foucauld and Teresa of Avila among them - the lyrics have startling theological depth. Contemplative, candid and serious, they challenge us to give Christ exclusive allegiance in our lives. more...

Esperanza by Tony Melendez

Hope

One September evening in 1987, 6,000 youth poured into the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles to meet Pope John Paul II during his pastoral visit that year to the United States. Some 1,200 more youth in St. Louis, Denver and Portland were also assembling in their own cities to witness the event via satellite. Among those to make presentations to the pope was Tony Melendez of Los Angeles, a young man born in Nicaragua in 1962. Melendez was sitting on a little red platform about 20 steps in front of the main stage upon which the pope was sitting. The two sleeves of Melendez's short-sleeve shirt hung empty from his shoulders. He had come into the world without arms. He sat there barefooted before the pope. His guitar lay flat on the platform before his feet. more...
