The Revised Standard Version Bible
is the English translation and text used in all Vatican documents.

The translation recognized by most
orthodox Catholic scholars as the best combination of the literal
and the literary.

It is the Catholic version of "an
authorized revision of the American Standard Bible, published in
1901, which was a revision of the King James Version, (Authorized

the Catholic Biblical Association of Great Britain and published
with ecclesiastical approval and by agreement with the Standard
Bible Committee and the Division of Christian Education of the
National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States of
America, it has been a translation of choice since 1966.

Retains
much of the phrasing and beauty of the King James Bible, in
modern spelling and usage, while remaining faithful to the Church's
teaching of the councils of Carthage and Rome in retaining the deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament Canon.

This is the only major modern translation of the Catholic Bible available in standard English. All other major translations have been revised to conform to feminist demands for "inclusive language" (the same language Rome rejected in the new Catechism).
A completely new typeset and designed edition of the popular Ignatius Revised Standard Version Bible, with minor revisions to some of the archaic language used in the first edition. This revised version is a contemporary English translation without dumbing-down the text.
This second edition of the RSV doesn't put the biblical text through a filter to make it acceptable to current tastes and prejudices, and it retains the beauty of the RSV language that has made it such a joy to read and reflect on the Word of God. more...
