In this beautifully illustrated children's book, the well-known legend of the little drummer is combined with the gifts given to Jesus by the Three Wise men.

Mendel, son of Simon who was the little drummer boy, is given thr three gifts by Mary shortly before her ascension into Heaven. Unable to walk, Mendel is wheeled around in a small cart as he bestows the gold on a neighbor shepherd who has lost his flock and the frankincense to a devout old woman. While trying to think of who to give the myrrh to, Mendel drops it and the fragrant ointment spills onto his paralyzed legs.
