This 16 x 20 inch canvas, (on real wood stretchers) is mounted in a handsome "floating" frame.

Janssen's Caravaggist depiction of this scene of Christ's Passion from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, shows a nocturnal scene of Jesus surrounded by soldiers beating him and showing mocking homage. The original of this masterpiece hangs in the Museum des Augustins.
